Recreational Parks & Camps
The Athens City-County Health Department currently licenses 13 recreational vehicle parks, recreation camps or combined park-camps. These park/camps are licensed and inspected in accordance with Chapter 3701-25 of the Ohio Administrative Code.
A park/camp means "any tract of land upon which a combination of five or more self-contained recreational vehicles or portable camping units are placed and includes any roadway, building, structure, vehicle, or enclosure used or intended for use as part of the park facilities. A tract of land which is subdivided for lease or other contract of the individual sites is a combined park/camp if a combination of five or more recreational vehicles or portable camping units are placed on it for recreation, vacation, or business purposes."
These rules address all aspects of the construction of a park/camp from lot sizes, distances between units, toilet facilities to sewage & water services.
To construct a park/camp, a person must first submit and have plans approved by the Ohio Department of Health. For more information, you may contact the following agencies:
